2024 Christmas Decor Trends

It’s the holiday season! Woo hoo!

We have long been awaiting the hap, happiest season of all… Christmastime is here!

I tend to be a traditionalist for the most part so it may seem a little odd that I’m compiling Christmas trends, but I also love to blend my traditional favorites with more trendy concepts (as long as they don’t get weird, haha).

Coquette Christmas

This one is a favorite of mine because it’s my concept for the Holly Fair (a holiday shopping fair at my daughter’s elementary school). I particularly have a soft spot for an aubergine and blush color palette with plentiful velvet bows in tow, but you can really do so much with it. I’m more of a fan of the soft and natural hand-tied bows from long ribbons than super structured bows or what you might think of traditionally as “gift-wrapping style” bows.

Disco Christmas

Disco has been popular for a minute. While I think that overdoing this trend is, well, overdone… I love mirrored shimmer walls, a few disco balls (maybe for some early New Year’s Eve flair?), and otherwise shimmery metallics. Tinsel! For this one I like just sprinkling those details in rather than going hog wild. OR throw that all to the wind and go full blown…

Rhinestone Cowboy Christmas

I know, I know. It’s the Nashville in me. But can I resist rhinestone-covered cowboy boots or retro country music stars’ glittery suits? Nope. I can’t. I have a pair of silvery sparkle cowgirl boots that I’m OBSESSED with right now (and Lilly Beth has a black pair and Julianna a pink pair). Christmas really does lend itself to copious amounts of glitter and sparkles, so just throw all caution to the wind. Maybe don’t go too literal with cowboy hats, but I won’t judge if you do. Too much tinsel is not enough.

Bright & Saturated Christmas

This is the whole Anthropologie aesthetic IMO. You know those rainbow “candy” beaded necklaces that are all the rage right now? (I have four…) This is that on steroids. I’m talking flocked balls, super-shiny glass balls, rainbow twisted crystal taper candle holders with colorful tapers, pom-pom garlands, maybe some velvet bows in every color thrown in for good measure. Give me all the colorful lights.

Citrus Christmas

Another timeless classic here… dried orange slices lined up, lemons, grapefruit, you name it. Maybe toss in some magnolia leaves for good measure. This is like quintessential timeless Southern Christmas. Very old-world Florida. Brown velvet bows. Blue velvet accents. Lends well with oyster shells, rattan, wicker cane. Obsessed always. Natural colors only here — browns, blues, orange/light citrus tones, creams. White lights, natch. So good.

Vintage 1970s Christmas

The 70s are always a source of major inspiration for me. I see this as tons of colored lights (maybe even the liquid bulb kind that totally used to be a huge fire hazard!), tinsel, plastic glow molds, kitsch. Jello mold? Necessary.
